Overview
The Pocket Scanner 2.0 utilizes USB communication for fast and secure data transfer of inventory files to VistA and Maximo utilizing KWedge. KWedge 7.x is a desktop software program used for data transfer to VistA or Maximo and a licensed copy is included with each scanner. The Pocket Scanner 2.0 with KWedge 7.x is a direct replacement for the CT45 Pocket Scanner which utilizes the same communication dock and KWedge software.
Apps are includes for conducting EX and NX inventories with ease and accuracy. EX inventory managers enjoy enhanced versions of the PRCPH and PRCUS apps. NX property managers will use the ENNX or Maximo inventor applications. All users will have access to the SC Pro application which allows VA Medical Centers to replace any function that may be done traditionally with paper and pencil so it can now be done with barcode scanners and spreadsheets. One example of a use case for SC Pro is scanning serial numbers of new property at the receiving dock.
The Pocket Scanner 2.0 also features FIPS wireless security so there is potential for Wi-Fi based communication in the future to replace USB data transfers.

Q. Is KWedge or the VistA scanner approved for use at VA Hospitals?
A. Yes, search TRM for KWedge for Android to find the approval.
Q. How can I verify KWedge 7.0 is installed correctly and what is the current version?
A. Verify the correct version of KWedge is being used by launching KWedge, go to View, choose About KWedge… and verify the about screen says “KWedge 7.0-for Android ver. 5.” If using an earlier version than 5, an update is required.
Q. Why wont the data transfer?
A. The scanner may not be whitelisted, the IT department will need to be contacted about whitelisting the scanner.
Q: Where is Maximo on my scanner?
A: Tap the gear icon on the left top side. Enter the password 00000 and check the box for Maximo. Maximo will now appear with the other options.
Q: Are the scanners compatible with AbovePar?
A: Yes
Q: Do I need Windows Mobile Device Center on the computer to work with the CT45 Pocket Scanner?
A: No
Q. Why does Vista have different uploaded data vs what I just scanned?
A. MSS Software does NOT have access to Vista/Abovebar/Reflections. We are unable to assist with any troubleshooting related to these programs. Please reach out to your IT.
Q. What if my scanner has a pop up that says “Your Software Maintenance License will expire in X days. Update your license to receive latest features and tech support”.
A. Press Don’t remind me again. The pop up should not pop up again.
Q. What if my scanner has a pop up that says “This software requires an active license for it to operate. Your software term licenses will expire in X days. Renew your license to continue use”.
